Around here lately, it's been a time of joining together, banding together and a coming away as I prepare my Mother's heart to watch a Son march away.

MathewandDiane, April 1991. I am enjoying spotlighting this blessed anniversary here over the next couple of weeks.
I frequently express us as "mathewanddiane" because the two became one under God. My blogspot address uses it and you'll see it here from time to time.

And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man .. Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man .. they shall be one flesh .. and were not ashamed.
Genesis 2:22-25 (abbrev.)

She is rare and precious in His sight. She will change the world around her by just her countenance. A joy and peace radiating from her that only comes from true faith within.
Can't wait to share ...

Have you heard of the ancient custom told by Tertullian?
I was blessed to read this as part of research for a guest post that is coming up - more news on that later!
The ancient custom as told by Tertullian is that the wearing of a gold ring on the fourth finger is from the belief that a vein ran from that finger directly to the heart. A woman was allowed to wear gold only there, in promise of marriage.
In the medieval service the wedding ring was placed first on the thumb, "in the name of the Father," then on the index finger, "in the name of the Son," on the third finger, "in the name of the Holy Ghost," and on the fourth finger with the Amen.
When the wedding ring is put on your finger you will have finally sealed your choice. It is this man and this one alone, whom you have chose for as long as ye both shall live." *
I adore this!

We travelled to my niece's wedding last week.
My brother and his family on the wedding day
Josh drove and chauffered us the entire weekend. I was so proud of him. When as a mother I begin to rely on my adult son it's a nice feeling and I realise I trust his judgement and strength. I let him make mistakes, lead and stumble in safe parameters and then to see him doing well on his own, I come to see he is growing up and becoming a fine young man.
Park Beach, Coffs Harbour. We stopped to stretch our legs here. What a gem! Now I know where I would like to spend our next family beach holiday ...
